Helping Those In Need This Holiday Season

Well, we’re not sure if you can believe it, but it’s that time of year again; The Holidays. The season for love, laughter, memories, and giving. At Marina’s International, we celebrate much like you do; spending time with the ones we love, decking the halls, spreading cheer, and above all; giving. This year we partnered with the Salvation Army to help give those less fortunate the Holidays they deserve. By having our 4 local properties (Twin Coves Marina, Silver Lake Marina, Scott’s Landing Marina, and Pier 121 Marina) participate in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, we were able to allow our members to adopt over 50 children (or “angels”). Our wonderful members where able to get over 200 gifts for these children to open and truly experience the reason for the season. We are so proud to have the selfless members that we do, and we are so proud to help our community enjoy the Holidays! We hope you all have a joyful Holiday Season and help the ones around you have one too!

An Outsider’s Perspective of Hardwork and Dedication.

Marinas International has several properties all over the U.S. – one in particular, Manasquan River Club, that was severely hit by Hurricane Sandy. Here is what on-looker John Veprek, from Point Pleasant, had to say of Marinas International’s quick response:

As you know, Hurricane Sandy came roaring through The State of New Jersey at the end of October and left a horrible trail of damaged homes, cars and boats. Residents tried to prepare the best they could for saving their personal property however as it turned out, to no avail.

The boating community was especially aware of the dangers due to the expected double punch from a full moon tide and a Nor Easter right behind the storm. The prudent boaters frantically sought to take their vessels out of the water and store them on dry land at Marinas however, some Marina owners did not want serve anyone who was not a previous “good” customer. You can imagine how hopeless some boaters felt when they were turned away with the storm only hours away. This was not the case at your Manasquan River Marina. Your Dock Master, Bryan Cosgrove and his son Ryan gave hope to the boaters that needed help and security in a time of peril. They promised they would not turn anyone away and would help as many boaters as they could as long as the travel lift and other equipment could be operated safely. Their team in the boat yard was operating like a well trained Indy 500 Pit crew and the office staff processed each owner in a streamlined efficient way. Mr. Funk, You would have been very proud of your workers at the Manasquan River Marina.

Although Sandy proved to be stronger than expected and the tides were epic, damage still occurred and a massive cleanup and salvage operation needed to commence. Again, although physically and mentally tired from tremendous amounts of work previously done, Dock Master Bryan Cosgrove, Yard foreman Ryan Cosgrove, and the team began orderly reassembling and restructuring the yard so customer’s vessels could carefully be re-blocked. What really impressed me was that each boat was being handled as if it was their own.

In summary, I would like to congratulate you on having such a great Marina Team at the Manasquan River Marina. All Marinas would benefit if they had Dock Masters and Yard Foreman like Bryan and Ryan Cosgrove.
